This year the Spring meeting playing for the Bob Stacey Memorial Trophy was played at Erlestoke Golf Club. This being our Captain David Ruffet’s home club.

This was Wiltshire Captains’ first game of the 2017 season and was held in the ‘deep south’ of the County on the challenging course at Hamptworth Golf and Country Club

What sort of idiots play golf in that weather!

Ogbourne Downs showed all of its teeth with gale force winds, heavy rain, hail and thunder.

Fourteen teams from fifteen of our member clubs took part in this year’s Summer Meeting for the “Tom Sherry Trophy” at Kings down Golf Club

The previous day had been a pretty wet one (much needed after the long hot spell) and the day of the match was not forecast to be wonderful either.

The joys of playing golf at Salisbury and South Wilts in July! The golfing omens were good from the start, with perfect playing conditions for golf

The selected team travelled to the Somerset levels and met at the delightful Long Sutton GC.

The team came together fairly well with only one withdrawal …..

RAIN, RAIN & more RAIN

We all travelled to The Gloucester Golf Club & we all travelled back as the course was unfit for play due to the amount of rain fall.

As so often when playing away matches, there were quite a number of the Wiltshire players who were not familiar with the green swards of Drayton Park …..

In a rare occurrence for a WGC match this year, we were met by sunny blue skies at Evesham golf club for match vs Worcestershire. …..

The day arrived with sunny spells, fair weather cloud and a cooling breeze. Would it continue? Yes, one of the few match days in the 2017 season without rain. …..

Wiltshire Golf Captains President June Poffley hosted the Autumn meeting where golfers played for the Burridge Salvers – a 4 ball better ball medal competition….
