Autumn Meeting played at High Post Golf Club
Tuesday 25th September 2012
Report from Brian Watts
Ninety six players took part in the Burridge Salvers pairs’ competition including four visitors from Hampshire and Sussex. The weather during the day was bright and breezy with one small shower lasting only a few minutes. The course was in really good order with very fast greens which caught a few out. With such enjoyable golfing conditions the scores were good; three quarters of the field had better ball medal scores under the standard scratch of 69.
The catering staff at High Post prepared an excellent meal which was enjoyed by everyone. The wine provided by the President Jim Murdoch was also well received.
Winners of the Burridge Salvers were David Hiscock from West Wilts and Alistair Ross from South Wilts with a score of 62.
Second place after count back went to Peter Rattue current Captain of High Post and Stuart Shewry from Ogbourne.
Third place was won by Norman Denman from Hamptworth and Tony Boulton from South Wilts with a score of 64.
Best score of 29 for the first 9 was achieved by Howard Banbrook
from Marlborough and Bobby McKeown from West Wilts.
The second 9 was won with a score of 32 by Ian Young from Wrag
Barn and Clive Waldron from High Post after count back.
The visitor’s prize was won by John Teasdale President of Sussex
and Brian Burgess Vice President of Hampshire.
The dinner was followed by the Annual General Meeting for which a large number attended.
The new President John Houghton from Tidworth was introduced
by our outgoing President Jim Murdoch.
Likewise the new Captain Tony Leach from Marlborough was
introduced by our outgoing Captain Tom Sherry.
Both Tom and Jim thanked everyone for their support during their very enjoyable year.
