The Wiltshire team assembled to a warm welcome at The Cotswolds Club near Chipping Norton on 20 August.

With overall handicap allowances closely balanced it proved to be a well contested match played from a two tee start.

Fortunately for the visitors the last three pairings brought home the Wiltshire bacon for a fine 5-3 away win.

The Oxfordshire after-match hospitality was first rate, matched by Bill Hartley, the Wiltshire Captain, who kept his form going until the end with an interesting “anecdote” or two following toasts and the presentation of the inter-county ball-marker trophy which, incidentally, may need to be enlarged or extended in the near future.
