On an overcast day at Goring and Streatley the outstanding natural beauty of this magnificent course was somewhat masked.

The staggering layout (especially the uphill 2nd, 3rd and 4th when oxygen was called for) provided a very good test of golf with very quick greens in immaculate condition.

All together a most enjoyable experience with hospitality of this Berkshire club second to none.

Alas, Wiltshire with Dorset shared 3rd place 8 points short of the winners. Berkshire with 210 points, perhaps with home team advantage, only pipped Somerset by one point.

Ian Armstong and Mike Bowes were the pick of the Wiltshire team with a very good 45 points only one behind the best pair.
