Autumn Meeting  - 2013

The Autumn meeting playing for "The Burridge Salvers" took place at Tidworth Garrison Golf Club the club of our President John Houghton.

Seventy captains including six guests took part in the pairs better ball competition on a drizzly day which although everyone got wet did not dampen anyone's enthusiasm and was enjoyed by all. The President had arranged for a hot drink and a snack halfway round which under the circumstances was well received.

The Salvers were won by Jim Gould from South Wilts and Philip Harris from West Wilts with a net better ball score of 59.

The runners up with a net score of 63 were Malcolm Nixon from North Wilts and Ivor Whinney from Wrag Barn.

In third place with a score of 64 were Eric Lewis from South Wilts and Brian Watts from Chippenham.

The prize for the best front nine was won by Bryan Neate from West Wilts and John Ledgister from Cumberwell.

The back nine was won by Graham Cowdrey from Chippenham and Andy Smith from Upavon.

Our six guests from Berkshire, Hampshire and Sussex had a competition between themselves which John Aspel the Hampshire Captain and Mark Terry the President of Sussex won with a score of 69.

Congratulations were offered to the catering staff for the excellent meal they had prepared for us and to the ground staff for the way they had prepared the course which was in a very good condition.

After the presentation of prizes the Annual General meeting was held during which our new President David O'Brien from Kingsdown was presented to the members.

Our Captain for 2014 Steve Griffiths from Wrag Barn was also presented with his chain of office.
