This year's Summer Meeting took place at High Post Golf Club on Wednesday 15 June.

Twelve clubs competed on a day that always threatened some rain but that, at least, was warm and with little wind. 'Some rain' might not be the best choice of words as play was actually suspended for half an hour later on due to thunder and lightning and a torrential downpour. Obviously local knowledge does count as the home team, by then, being first out, had finished and were sitting in the clubhouse in the dry.

The course was beautifully turned out, provided you kept it on the straight and narrow to avoid the penal rough.

Golfers were treated to a lovely lunch before play, and buffet dinner, prior to the presentation of the trophy to the winning team of Wrag Barn by WGC Captain John Hawley, with Meetings Secretary, Brian Watts, ensuring that everything ran to plan.

The Wiltshire came in second, four points behind the winners, with High Post two points further back. The Bowmaker format, with the three best stableford scores counting on each hole, and ¾ handicap allowance, proved a good test of tactics and team effort.
