Spring Meeting 2016

This year the Spring Meeting was held at Hamptworth Golf Club in lovely sunny weather with virtually wall to wall blue sky all day. Sixty five players took part on a course which threads its way through woods and open areas on the edge of The New Forest.

There were ditches and ponds to negotiate which added to the challenge, it was well presented with greens which were fast.

The Bob Stacey memorial trophy was won by John Jacobs the current captain at Hamptworth with a score of 38 points, Second place went to another home player Andy Norris with 37 points, third place went to Steve Coleman from The Wiltshire with 36 points.

The prize for the best score on the front nine went to Brian Howse from Erlestoke with 21 points and the back nine was won by Jim Cameron with 19 points after a count back.

Our visitors were from Somerset and Dorset, Dave Baker the Dorset Vice Captain had the best score of 33 points from amongst them and received some golf balls for his achievement.

After the match we enjoyed a delicious meal for which we must thank the catering staff, members of Hamptworth played a big part in ensuring the day went off well and this was certainly achieved.

The Club Captain, John Jacobs, donated prizes for nearest the pin on three of the holes and was delighted with the response from the players who gave so generously to his chosen charity raising an amazing £430.
