WGC  v  Somerset Captains

Marlborough G.C.  26th July 2016

Not too much wind nor any rain the temperature was very pleasant and the sun popped out now and again, unfortunately that’s the best we can say for the Wiltshire performance!

A 2.5 – 5.5 home loss was not the result we required but that said the company was good. The Captain John Hawley and his partner young Brain Watts earned a well fought halve in the first match and the hopes were high, if only for a short while.

The next 3 matches all resulted in loss but each going to the 18th. A couple of wins from Marlborough members (so they should) added to the total but further damage was taken in matches 6 & 7 resulting in a poor loss. Every match bar one going to the 18th, so close.

The Marlborough course was looking it’s best and received praise from all sides, a hearty golfers dinner went down well and everyone left happy (ish!).
