WGC v Hampshire I.W. & Channel Islands

Played at The North Wilts G.C.

Thursday 2nd July

On a day that started overcast with light rain we welcomed local rivals Hampshire.

Our President Ray Smith stood in as Captain for the day and we all set of to play.

After an hour or so the heavens opened, the wind blew and the temperatures dropped. Despite the temptation to come in the golfing heroes ploughed on – and the Golfing Gods smiled – we ended the matches in glorious summer sunshine.

The competition was fierce (not really) and an honourable draw resulted. We look forward to resuming battle next year in Hampshire.

Thanks to everyone who participated, the bar and catering staff and most of all to the grounds man who presented a course in prime condition.

We ended with an honourable half, so we retained the trophy as we won it last year.

The match was played in the true spirit of the game and all said this was one of the nicest teams we have had the pleasure to play as you can see from the photos.
