Wiltshire GC v Dorset GC

at

Crane Valley Golf Club

24th April 2014

Well what a lovely day and a lovely golf course.

We had a bit of bother on the day as one poor soul got out of bed to find his knee seized up.

After a quick ring round by myself and Steve the Captain, we were unable to replace him.

But as with all best laid plans Dorset where 3 short 30 mins before the tee off.

fortunately two turned up in time so the Dorset Captain, Derek Grimes decided that we would play two 3 balls rather that have a 2 ball in the middle of the round.

Steve and I had a great round winning on the 14th but alas we only won 2 others to lose 5 & 3

It was a gallant effort from all the team and friendship won the day.

I must say I was very surprised and gratefull to receive a bottle of port from Steve for being Match secretary, unfortunately this very kind gesture will not persuade me to do it again. ! but what a lovely thought, thank you Steve.

I had a few comments from others that this was not a very good course, may I put that right by saying that the course was in excellent condition all round, lovely layout, good greens and very good staff that looked after us well.

I would recommend anyone to go there and try it.

Many thanks to the Dorset Captain, Derek Grimes and the Captain of Crane Valley, Barry Anderson for their hospitality and making it a very memorable day.

Alan
