at Tidworth Golf Club

It was with great pleasure that we welcomed The Berkshire Captain, Terry Jackson and his team to Tidworth Garrison Golf Club. After the initial introductions, the Club Manager then welcomed both teams and said he hoped that everyone would have a very enjoyable day.
The weather was most suitable. It was pleasantly sunny and with a fairly steady breeze, that maintained a comfortable temperature all day.
Team selection was pretty volatile and with only 24 hours to go, the last nominated reserve was called in to join the fight. A fight I regret to say we came second in. It was all square after 7 matches and then the visitors finally edged the result in their favour.

At this stage, special mention needs also to be made of Bill Hartley’s quality putting that helped secure a very creditable half. A rare exhibition, that was as enjoyable for me as it was demoralizing for the opposition.
We were well looked after by all the staff at the club and were treated to an exceptional after match dinner. Bill Hartley thanked everyone for attending and then reluctantly handed over the trophy to the Terry Jackson, the Berkshire Captain.
A satisfying end, to a very pleasant day.
